La beauté à la lumière de la notion d’information. La forme dans les architectures numériques de Biothing.

ABSTRACT. Information technology has changed the architectural practice in various ways. Our position is to consider that technology’s modification of our perception of the architectural object. We propose therefore to rethink this perception and focus within this paper specifically on the perception of «beauty», asking the following question: “Is digital architecture beautiful?”

As Vitruvius once wrote: «beauty is an elegant and pleasant form by fair proportion of its parts.» We will transpose this concept of beauty on an interrogation of form. Our analysis will be based on the relation between form and information as proposed by the French philosopher Gilbert Simondon. With an examination of the architectural projects by  Biothing, we will argument that beauty, in relation to the ITRevolution, can be found in a form that keeps its potentiality; a form that is still capable to modify.
